Rob and Jill in Maine

As most of you who might be reading this know, Jill is heading back to school for her doctoral work at the University of Maine in Orono (which is close to Bangor) Maine this fall. We have bought a little house to live in while we’re there, and this page has a few pictures taken during our first week there in July, 2001. We’ll be back in August to live there for about a year and a half.

All the pictures we have can be found in the gallery, but here’s some more detail about a few of them.

This is the front view from the street. That door that looks like it’s the front door has a little sign on it that says “please use side door”, and hasn’t been used for a main entrance for at least 13 years. The side door, on the porch, is the real main entrance. The house is on a rather steep slope, down to the back “yard” and into a patch of woods that goes with the lot. The house is 600 square feet (not including the basement), but sits on a half acre lot with quite a bit of woods on it. Ukiah’s kennel is built down into those woods.

The house is a 20x30 foot rectangle (with the front entry/porch off to one side) divided into five rooms. All of this is over a full basement that houses the furnace, utility "room" and what will soon be my office. The gallery shows the rooms in counterclockwise order from the entry from the porch.
